Message:
THE DINNER PARTY has just release to DVD in the UK and will be opeing
to select Australian cinema's on the 07th October 2010. There are many
controversial aspects surrounding this film. Here are some FAQ’s:

• This film was shot in Canberra in 11 days for $35,000

• The maximum amount of state level film development funding you can
attain as a citizen of ACT is $10,000 – Received from ScreenACT with
desperate open hands, this level of funding is hugely disproportionate
to all other Australian states and territories.

• The film has been inspired by true events - no-one has been
convicted of Murder in the ACT for over 10 years. This is either a
result of a well behaved society or a lenient legal system? You tell
me – see article
www.thedinnerparty.com.au/files/No%20murder%20convictions%20for%2010%20years%20in%20ACT%20.pdf

• This film is about Apathy in our culture – The film-makers
certainly do not stand on a morale high ground dishing out armchair
ethics, we simply pose questions and let the audience decide. Have we
turned into a culture that no longer chooses sides but sidelines?

• This film was green lit for national level film funding and then
dropped at the last minute – Contact producer, Brendan Sloane and
find out why

• The film was nominated for Best Debut Feature at the 17th
Raindance Film Festival in London

• All media for this film including TV and Radio interviews is
listed and located within the media section of the website –

• This film showcases 6 lead roles who all give amazing performances
– For more details on these actors and much more, please see the

Here are some quotes that have come from some fantastic reviews in the
UK:

'...an ambitious attempt to pack some weighty drama and complex
characters into an entertaining enough thriller. And, for the most
part; it succeeds...'

- David Steele, MovieMuser

'...a really interesting and well orchestrated thriller...Cox is a
reassuringly icy screen presence who can be extremely determined,
almost steely, one minute and extremely emotional the next...'

- David Beckett, MyReviewer

'...an undiscovered gem...[Lara Cox] steals the show as the mentally
disturbed and jealous student Angela...'

- James Powell, Suite 101

'...Coming on like ‘Home And Away’ on a bad acid trip...Strong
performances and an excellent atmospheric soundtrack just about lift
The Dinner Party out of its small screen aesthetic...'
- Elinor Perry-Smith, The Smell of Napalm

'...poses interesting questions about responsibility and
consequences...a rewarding experience...'

- Phillip Azevedo, Foodepedia
